Quest-V is a new system currently under development for multicore processors. It comprises a collection of separate kernels operating together as a distributed system on a chip. Each kernel is isolated from others using virtualization techniques, so that faults do not propagate throughout the entire system. This multikernel design supports online fault recovery of compromised or misbehaving services without the need for full system reboots. While the system is designed for high-confidence computing environments that require dependability, Quest-V is also designed to be predictable. It treats time as a first-class resource, requiring that all operations are properly accounted and handled in real-time. This paper focuses on the design aspects of Quest-V that relate to how time is managed. Special attention is given to howQuest-V manages time in four key areas: (1) scheduling and migration of threads and virtual CPUs, (2) I/O management, (3) communication, and (4) fault re-

The Effect of Education on Improvement of Multiple Choice Questions' Designing in Annual Residency Exams of Dental School
Introduction: Multiple choice exams are one of the most common objective exams used in medical education. So, it is important to find ways to improve the quality of these exams, especially in residency programs. Thus the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of education on quality improvement of Multiple Choice Questions (MSQ) designed in Annual Residency Exams of Dental Faculty. M...

Fixed-Priority Scheduling with Deferred Preemption (FPDS) is a middle ground between Fixed-Priority Preemptive Scheduling and Fixed-Priority Non-preemptive Scheduling, and offers advantages with respect to context switch overhead and resource access control. In this paper we present our work on extending the realtime operating system RTAI/Linux with support for FPDS. We give an overview of poss...

The motivation for a stable, efficient, backfill scheduler that runs in a consistent manner on multiple hardware platforms and operating systems is outlined and justified in this work. The combination of the Maui Scheduler and the Portable Batch System (PBS), are evaluated on several cluster solutions of various size, performance and communications profiles. The total job throughput is simulate...
متن کاملA hierarchical approach for designing the downstream segment for a supply chain of petroleum production systems
Strategic decisions in a supply chain are the most important decisions for petroleum production systems. These decisions, due to high costs of transportation and storing, are costly and affected by the tactical and operational decisions in uncertain situations. In this article, we focus on designing a downstream segment for a supply chain of petroleum production systems. For this purpose, we wi...
